Meer over jouw toekomstige afdeling

The department, R&D Observations and Data Technology, employs around 55 scientists and engineers and is responsible for continuous innovation and improvement of KNMI’s data services, from sensor to end-user. For our team of scientists that is developing and implementing KNMI’s International Climate Services we are looking for a project scientist. One of our important products in the area of International Services is the International Climate Assessment & Dataset (ICA&D) which collects, processes and analyses surface climate observations in Europe and a growing number of regions in the world. This KNMI activity contributes to climate adaptation worldwide by providing and organizing regional climate information in regions where this information is lacking. These services are embedded in the World Meteorological Organization and the Copernicus Climate Change Service project. While the station-based observations are at the core of the service, derived datasets like application-oriented climate indices are its flagships. The research group in the R&D department take part in various international collaborations, inside Europe but increasingly outside Europe as well.
