Apply advanced mobile device repair techniques and methods while contributing to law enforcement in the Netherlands. You will only find that unique combination at the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI), where you get to work as a digital forensic examiner.

As a digital expert in the field of mobile device repair, you will strengthen the Device Forensics team. Your challenge will be to apply repair techniques in a digital forensic context. Devices are becoming more complex to repair; Components are becoming ever smaller and are increasingly sensitive to heat and mechanical stress. So, ingenuity, continuous learning and ‘out of the box thinking’ are needed to get damaged devices working again into a state where they can be forensically copied with existing methods. You will apply in-house developed methods to confiscated devices, to extract potential evidentiary data.

The job will require knowledge of low-level electronics, repair, PCB assembly technology, computer hardware and machinery currently available at the Device Forensics lab, for instance a ZEVAC Onyx 24 rework station.

Team Device Forensics
The Digital Technology team focuses on securing, extracting and copying and decrypting data from protected devices. This concerns, for example, research into PCs, mobile phones, navigation systems, cars or digital media. The team is very successful in achieving this and has built an excellent reputation within the global digital forensic community. Problem-driven research and development, and complex case examination form the core of our work. We develop and automate innovative solutions, which we transfer to partners in the criminal justice chain.
