Do you want to use your communication skills to help build a fairer and more sustainable world?
At CBI, you’ll put your communications talents to meaningful use while supporting international projects. You’ll work closely with the communications advisor, content creators and social media specialists. You'll also get the opportunity to take on tasks from programme and project managers.
We’re offering an internship for a curious and energetic communications student who enjoys variety: one day you might help write a case story or social media post, the next you're assisting with organising an event or project.
As a Communications Intern at CBI, your tasks include:
• Contributing to the implementation of the communications strategy to inform, motivate and engage CBI’s various target audiences;
• Creating content for the website and social media (LinkedIn and Facebook), and ensuring existing content is kept up to date;
• Managing the content calendar and coordinating with content specialists, programme managers and other stakeholders;
• Supporting communication projects and taking ownership of sub-projects or specific tasks;
• Assisting with large international development projects by contributing to meetings and conducting desk research;
• Staying in touch with CBI stakeholders involved in projects — CBI works with external experts and partner organisations such as business associations and Chambers of Commerce;
• Providing logistical support in planning, organising and coordinating CBI events (e.g. international trade fairs, workshops and trainings organised as part of CBI projects);
• Supporting the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) team — for example, by taking minutes during evaluation interviews or assisting with transparency initiatives.
PLEASE NOTE: To be eligible for this internship, you are expected to have a working knowledge of Dutch (spoken and reading), as our general meetings are conducted in Dutch. You are not required to write in Dutch.
Why CBI?
o CBI has held a unique position in the world for over 55 years, promoting fair production and trade from low and middle-income countries to Europe. CBI also leads the way in sharing market studies with entrepreneurs from these countries. If you’re passionate about themes like sustainability, corporate social responsibility, gender equality or youth employment, CBI offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful transitions in these areas.
o Plenty of room for personal development; as an intern, you naturally want the space to explore your interests and discover which professional path suits you best. At our organisation, we fully support that journey:
- You’ll be assigned a dedicated internship supervisor to help you define your learning goals, address your questions, and develop your skills.
- Tasks will be tailored to your areas of interest as well as the organisation’s needs. And if, during your internship, you discover a new passion or focus? We offer the flexibility to adjust your responsibilities where possible.
o Working at CBI means working in an international environment, where the balance between development cooperation and international business is key. We believe a positive working atmosphere is essential – and having fun is part of that. That’s why we organise activities outside of working hours, such as pub quizzes, giving you the chance to get to know your colleagues in a different setting.
